Airport fully backs coastal cleanup

Airport Authority (AA) supported the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Hong Kong on 22 June at Tai Long Wan, Lantau. The global event was initiated by the Ocean Conservancy in 1986, with the Green Council acting as the official Hong Kong and Macao coordinator for ICC Hong Kong since 2008. The event aims to engage the community in documenting and collecting rubbish from beaches and waterways around the world.  

On the day, an enthusiastic group of over 30 helpers comprising AAHK staff members and their family and friends participated in this global marine conservation effort. The team collected an impressive of 170 kilogrammes of rubbish from the coastline in just one afternoon. More importantly, the event raised participants’ awareness of ocean pollution and marine ecology.
