HKIA gets ready for the typhoon season

In preparation for the typhoon and rainy seasons, Airport Authority (AA) organised the "Summer Blow 2024" exercise in March at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The exercise aimed to refine contingency scenarios for inclement weather and strengthen collaboration among various departments and the airport community.

Nearly 700 participants from 27 government departments and the airport community took part, including the Hong Kong Observatory, Hong Kong Police Force, local airlines, and ground handling providers. The exercise tested scenarios such as crowd control, baggage handling, flight information dissemination and land transport arrangements. The Airport Emergency Centre was also activated to ensure effective coordination, communication and information sharing among all parties.
