The founder of Wong Chi Kei, Wong Wun Chi, acquired the “jook sing” (bamboo pole) noodle making skill from a famous Hua-yuan master in 1940 in Guangdong and opened his first shop in Dongguan in 1946 which was received with immediate success. He then opened his first shop in Guangdong in 1951 and later moved to Macau in 1959 to the premises in Rua de Cinco de Outubro.
Inherited by the third generation, we have now developed beyond restaurant dining onto souvenir and retail business, expanding the Wong Chi Kei brand with the start of “Yea Yea Noodle” and our sub-brand “Man Yuet”.
The Yea Yea Noodles series went beyond Macau in 2019 and won awards from the renowned international quality evaluation institute, Monde Selection. We have received the Gold Award for six consecutive years (2019-2024).
