2025/04/24

HKIA is named “Best Airport in China” for the second consecutive year in the 2025 TTG China Travel Awards.
HKIA’s “Renewable Diesel Pilot Project” receives the Gold Award in the “Over 38 million passengers per annum” category at ACI’s Green Airports Recognition 2025.

(Hong Kong, 24 April 2025, 1630hrs) – Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has recently garnered significant recognitions for its outstanding performance and commitment to environmental sustainability. HKIA clinched the recognition of "Best Airport in China" for the second consecutive year in the 2025 TTG China Travel Awards. Additionally, HKIA's "Renewable Diesel Pilot Project" won the Gold Award in the Airports Council International (ACI)’s Green Airports Recognition 2025.

HKIA was voted “Best Airport in China” in the 2025 TTG China Travel Awards for the second year in a row. Established in 2008, the TTG China Travel Awards recognise outstanding performance by travel service providers including airlines, hotel groups and other travel-related businesses.

Meanwhile, HKIA’s “Renewable Diesel Pilot Project” clinched the Gold Award in ACI’s Green Airports Recognition 2025, in the category of over 38 million passengers per annum.  Organised by the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, the award recognises airports with outstanding performance in environmental protection.

HKIA became the first airport in Asia to use renewable diesel on ground services equipment through the “Renewable Diesel Pilot Project”, launched by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) in collaboration with Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (HACTL) and Shell Hong Kong Limited. The renewable diesel used in the pilot is hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), which is fully compatible with diesel engines in equipment such as baggage tractors, rubber removal vehicles, airfield sweepers and mobile generators. Compared to conventional petroleum diesel, renewable diesel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 87%.

Vivian Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of AAHK, said, “We are honoured to receive these esteemed awards. These remarkable achievements are a testament to the tireless efforts of all airport staff, who enable HKIA to maintain world-class service standards and continuously expand our extensive air network and intermodal connectivity. This reinforces our position as an international aviation hub, while fulfilling our social responsibility to protect the environment. Working closely with our business partners, we will continue to commit ourselves to service excellence, driven by sustainable and efficient operations, to deliver an exceptional airport experience for worldwide travellers.”
