Routes World 2025 to Land in Hong Kong Next September

A handover ceremony is held in Bahrain during Routes World 2024 on 8 October, where HKIA is announced as the host airport of Routes World 2025.

(HONG KONG, 9 October 2024, 1630hrs) – Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will host Routes World 2025, a distinguished global aviation event, from 24 to 26 September 2025.

A handover ceremony was held in Bahrain during Routes World 2024 on 8 October, where HKIA was announced as the host airport of Routes World 2025. Vivian Cheung, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), remarked at the ceremony that, “It is with great honor and anticipation that HKIA carries forward the mission and prepare for hosting Routes World in September 2025, in our beautiful city of Hong Kong. Routes World 2025 will provide unparalleled opportunities for industry professionals to come together, witness firsthand the various advancements at HKIA, and experience the unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures that define our city.”

Steven Small, Director of Routes, said, “Next year, we will head to Hong Kong for the 30th edition of Routes World. With half the world’s population within a five-hour flight, Hong Kong is where East meets West. To strengthen Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub, and to cater for the city’s long-term air traffic demand, HKIA is developing into a three-runway system which is due to be completed at the end of this year. Routes World is the perfect platform to showcase this investment.”

To prepare for Routes World 2025, HKIA has assembled an exceptional team, with Cathay Pacific serving as official carrier, the Hong Kong Tourism Board as supporting organisation, and AsiaWorld-Expo as venue partner.

The event is expected to gather more than 3,000 global aviation industry. Exhibitions and forums will be staged during the three-day event, where decision makers from more than 260 airlines, as well as airports and key stakeholders from the industry will exchange ideas and discuss various topics on the development of the aviation industry. They will explore opportunities in Hong Kong, as well as new air connections with HKIA.

The commissioning of the Three-runway System (3RS) at HKIA will further enhance the capacity of the airport and consolidate its leading international aviation hub position. All three runways at HKIA are expected to be operational by the end of 2024. The 3RS will enable HKIA to handle the long-term air traffic demand of 120 million passengers and 10 million tonnes of cargo forecast for 2035. In addition, AAHK is pushing forward the Airport City vision, transforming the airport into an iconic landmark in the region. The Airport City project, which comprises office, hotel, retail, dining and entertainment facilities, will attract visitors and drive the economic growth of the city and the region.
