Members of Public Welcome to Participate in the “C919 Aircraft Flight Demonstration in Hong Kong” Photo Competition
(HONG KONG, 13 December 2023, 1900hrs) – Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) hosted a welcoming ceremony at the apron today to welcome the home-developed aircraft C919 and ARJ21 visiting Hong Kong for the first time, with John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) being the officiating guest. Other officiating guests included Zheng Yanxiong, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Cui Xiaofeng, Deputy Administrator of Civil Aviation Administration of China; Wu Wei, Director of Third Bureau of Hong Kong and Macau Work Office of the CPC Central Committee; Jack So, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK); Mable Chan, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Logistics; Victor Liu, Director- General of Civil Aviation; Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of AAHK; and representatives from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. and more.
The two domestically developed aircraft received a ceremonial water salute at HKIA when arriving in the afternoon on 12 December. The aircraft duo will be staged on display at HKIA from the afternoon on 13 December until 15 December. Representatives of the local and overseas aviation industry, as well as members of youth groups and district organisations, will be invited on board to get a closer look of the aircraft.
The HKSAR Government and AAHK will jointly organise the “C919 Aircraft Flight Demonstration in Hong Kong” Photo Competition on 16 December, encouraging members of the public to capture the commemorative moment of the C919 flying over the Victoria Harbour. Entrants of the competition may submit their photographs through the AAHK online submission platform from 16 to 29 December. The top three submissions together with 50 merit awards will be selected. Winners will receive round-trip air tickets to designated destinations sponsored by AAHK. Results will be announced in January 2024.
