(HONG KONG, 25 October 2022, 1330hrs) – Hong Kong residents can now enjoy the convenience of completing the entire departure process at different checkpoints of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), including the immigration departure procedures, by “Flight Token”. Hong Kong residents who checked in their flights using the Smart Check-in kiosks no longer have to produce their identity documents repeatedly when they pass through different checkpoints at the airport.
This follows the announcement by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) today that Flight Token begins full implementation on 25th October 2022 with the launch of the Immigration Department's “Flight Token e-Channel” service.
Hong Kong residents aged 11 or above travelling with participated airlines may register to use Flight Token for the entire departure journey with HKSAR passport or HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes, or Hong Kong and Macao Residents Entry and Exit Permit (commonly known as “Home Visit Permit”). Other passport holders could still enjoy the Flight Token journey except the immigration departure clearance checkpoint of Immigration Department.
Vivian Cheung, Executive Director, Airport Operations of AAHK, said, “With the relaxation of quarantine requirements, many local residents are once again travelling through HKIA. To welcome them back, HKIA has implemented Flight Token in full, offering a pleasant and convenient departure experience. We will continue to work with our partners to enhance our services and offer passengers an even more enjoyable airport journey.”
Flight Token e-Channels will be available at the North and South Departure Immigration Halls, while all departure gates at Terminal 1 are equipped with e-Boarding Gates. For more details about Flight Token, please visit https://www.hongkongairport.com/en/passenger-guide/flight-token.page.
