Historical background of the Sedan Chair Charities Fund
To further encourage community's participation and support to the Fund and the Event, HKIA launches a series of activities and exhibitions from September to mid November, with the passionate support of our airport retailers. They have generously provided recycled materials for the set up, assisted the fund raising at retail level and sponsored the prizes to winners of the drawing and design activities.
In the Beginning
Sister Joyce Smith came up with the idea of organising a novelty race, as a means to showcase the location and facilities of the Matilda International Hospital. From this the Sedan Chair Charity Fund (SCCF) was established.
Mission
All raised fund goes to charitable organisations that do not receive assistance from the Hong Kong Community Chest, Hong Kong Jockey Club or the Government - none go to the Matilda International Hospital.
