Traversing Past and Present

Blending traditional gongbi paintings with multimedia digital technology, the interactive works by local artist Cherie Cheuk and designer Jack Lau create a dynamic connection between the past and present, and immerse visitors in a unique sensory experience.

This exhibition, inspired by the iconic “fabric streets” in Sham Shui Po, showcases a series of gongbi paintings featuring classical depictions of flowers, birds, monkeys, bonsai plants and window sills; as well as intricate tile patterns, curios and other decorative displays. Through the ingenious use of augmented reality and motion graphics, these colourful art pieces are brought to life. Visitors can also dive into the virtual world and create their own animation by mixing and matching the different paintings, colours and patterns on display.
