HK$1 million prizes to be won in HKIA Grand Lucky Draw

(HONG KONG, 7 July 2003) – Hong Kong International Airport continued its expanding welcome back campaign with the introduction of a Grand Lucky Draw open to all arriving, departing and transiting passengers. The “Your Privileges, Our Pleasure” lucky draw will feature many exciting prizes from leading brand names with a total value of about HK$1 million. Prizes will include a Toyota Camry car, a Panasonic 50” Plasma television, a Diamond Trading Company’s diamond ring and over 35 air tickets to destinations around the world. Other valuable prizes will include luxury goods such as brand-name handbags, jewellery and watches; the latest in hi-tech gadgetry and travellers cheques and SkyMart cash coupons… Airport Authority (AA) Chief Executive Officer Dr David J Pang hosted the launch of the lucky draw, explaining that the contest is not just an opportunity for travellers to win prizes, but also is a way for the AA to say thank-you for the loyalty shown by the airport’s many patrons. Only six weeks since the World Health Organisation lifted its travel advisory against Hong Kong, daily passenger traffic has rebound to 70% of what it had been before SARS. “I am delighted to announce this chance to reward the users of the Hong Kong International Airport with many valuable prizes,” said Dr Pang. “It reflects our optimism that the airport will return to full and normal operations quickly. We see this as a way to say ‘thank-you’ to the regular users of the airport. And we see it a symbol of our commitment to make travel as exciting, enjoyable and hassle-free as ever.” All passengers can enter the lucky draw between today and 31 July without making any purchase. Simply by presenting their boarding passes at the lucky draw counters located in both Arrivals and Departures restricted areas of the passenger terminal, they will obtain a lucky draw ticket. The lucky ones will receive their prizes sent to their home, courtesy of the Airport Authority. Dr Pang said, “I am grateful to the many generous sponsors who have joined with us to create this marvellous Grand Lucky Draw. The fact that we were able to secure the participation of 34 enthusiastic sponsors in such a short amount of time, and during an especially difficult business climate, has allowed us to put together a highly attractive programme in just six weeks time. The Grand Lucky Draw will be advertised in Airport Express stations, local print media, on radio and throughout the passenger terminal of the airport.
