Flight operation at HKIA resumes orderly after the typhoon.

(HONG KONG, 2 September 2023, 1900hrs) – As Typhoon Saola is moving away from Hong Kong gradually, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has been working closely with airport community, relevant government departments and other business partners for the orderly resumption of flight operation.

AAHK has implemented flight rescheduling and it is expected to handle around 480 flights today with both runways in operation overnight. As more flights than usual are expected to arrive after midnight, the airport will continue with its stepped-up efforts to serve the additional large number of passengers.

AAHK advises passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information, and to proceed to the airport only when their seats and flight time have been confirmed. Additional manpower has also been deployed to assist passengers at the terminal and ensure smooth operation.

Fred Lam, Chief Executive Office of AAHK, Victor Liu, Director-General of Civil Aviation Department and airlines management inspected airport operation this morning. AAHK would like to thank the entire airport community for the meticulous preparation and tireless efforts throughout that ensure the airport’s safety and smooth resumption of flights.
